How do I create a CARL account ?

We offer 3 different subscription options: Trial, Standard, and Premium.

How frequently are prices Updates ?

Standard subscribers will receive a daily price update.

Premium subscribers benefit from 4 price updates per day.

How do I get started?

Once your account has been created, you will receive an email containing your username and password to connect to the portal.

After signing in with your username and password, you will have immediate access to all of the portal’s tools.

Do I need to install any software to use CARL?

Our Price Watcher tool does not require a software supplement as it is a SaaS* online portal.

Your username and password alone provide full access.

* Software as a Service (SaaS) : Provides software and services with a monthly subscription.

Can more than one person use the same account ?

You can register up to 5 users on one account and each user is granted full access to CARL’s services.

With this feature, your marketing, sales, and sector managers can each keep a close watch on the updates that pertain to their job.

How long is the CARL subscription period ?

Subscriptions to CARL the Price Watcher are billed monthly and there is no minimum subscription period.

Your subscription will be billed on the same day every month, corresponding to the calendar date on which the account was created.

For instance, if you created your account on January 5, 2015, you will be billed on the 5th day of every month.

What payment methods are accepted ?

Access to the CARL Price Watcher portal is based on a monthly subscription that is billed automatically.

We accept payment by VISA, MasterCard, and PayPal.

Payment set-up is quick and easy, and can be cancelled at any time with this contact form.

What prices does CARL produce ?

CARL publishes all of the prices it finds on product pages across all major online market places, i.e. product price + tax, shipping fees, and total price.

With a breakdown of your competitors’ prices and shipping fees, the Price Watcher gives you an integral view of the market for your products.


What information does CARL search for ?

Our Price Watcher searches online market places for all information related to the contents of your product catalog such as : The EAN code, reference, product description, price + tax, shipping fees, and total price...

CARL also produces all additional information it finds in each market place including categories, producers, product names, references, URL’s, etc.

Can I set up alerts through the portal ?

CARL contains an alert system with 5 different alert categories that you can customize according to your needs:

Price Evolution : Receive an alert on the price evolution of your product(s) in the form of the percentage of increase or decrease over a specified period of time.

Exclusive Products: Receive an alert on your product(s) for which there is only one online competitor.

Products Without Association: Receive an alert on your product(s) that have no match online.

Products With High Competition: Receive an alert when the amount of online competitors for your product(s) reaches a certain number.

Products Without Prices: Receive a list of products found online for which there is no listed price.

These alerts can be deactivated and reactivated at any time and the alert histories are always saved.

How do the alerts work?

The Price Watcher alerts are fully customizable. You can create alerts for your entire product catalog, or for sections broken down by category, product type, range, etc.

Is it possible to download my alert files ?

CARL allows you to export the results of each analysis and alert in xls or csv format. Analysis reports can be downloaded immediately.

You can also dictate the frequency at which you wish to receive an alert.

Your alert reports will be sent to you via email, or you can access them through the export page on the portal.

What file format does CARL accept ?

Carl was created to be compatible with the following most widely used file formats for data transfer: XLS, CSV, XML, and TXT.

What is field mapping ?

Field mapping means to connect the column headings of your product catalog with those found in CARL.

What is product matching ?

Product matching is the automatic process of searching for and matching your product(s) with those available across all major online market places.

This process begins automatically once your product catalog has been imported. To provide an even more precise analysis, you can opt for a semi-automatic or manual product match.

What is a semi-automatic/ manual product match ?

Semi-automatic product matching is conducted individually and consists of a database scan to find a specific product. 

Manual product matching allows you to directly insert the URL of a product you have personally found on an online marketplace.

What types of products can I follow ?

You can follow any product you wish.

All you have to do is upload your product catalog, the EAN code, product reference, label, and brand. Product matching will begin automatically once the field mapping is complete. (See Field Mapping)

What format should I use to upload my product catalog ?

You can upload your product catalog to the Portal in one of the following formats: XLS, CSV, XML, or TXT.
