Faster Order Preparation - Order Fulfillment

Overview

As order volumes grow, warehouse teams face a familiar challenge:
too many individual orders, too much back-and-forth, and not enough time.

Processing orders one by one slows down picking, increases errors, and puts pressure on teams, especially during peak periods. Modern fulfillment operations need a smarter way to group, organize, and process orders efficiently.

This is where MyFulfillment’s Order Preparation by Batch feature comes in.

With batch processing, MyFulfillment allows warehouses to group similar orders together, optimize picking routes, and process multiple orders in a single, structured workflow saving time while maintaining accuracy.

In this article, we’ll explain:

  • The problem batch preparation solves
  • How MyFulfillment simplifies batch-based order preparation
  • Step-by-step instructions to configure and use batch processing
  • How teams can process and complete batches efficiently

The Challenge: Manual and Fragmented Order Preparation

Without batch preparation, warehouse teams often:

  • Pick orders individually, repeating the same routes
  • Handle similar products multiple times
  • Spend extra time switching between orders
  • Increase the risk of picking and packing errors

This approach doesn’t scale well, especially when:

  • Order volumes increase
  • Multiple carriers are involved
  • Orders contain similar SKUs

To stay fast and accurate, fulfillment teams need structured grouping and guided workflows.

The Solution: Batch Order Preparation with MyFulfillment

MyFulfillment’s batch preparation feature allows teams to group orders logically and process them together based on:

  • Product structure
  • Order complexity
  • Carrier selection

Instead of treating each order separately, warehouse teams can:

  • Pick multiple orders in one run
  • Use global and order-level pick lists
  • Process batches using barcode scanning
  • Track batch status from creation to completion

The result is faster picking, cleaner workflows, and better control over fulfillment operations.

Configure Order Preparation by Batch in MyFulfillment

Enabling batch preparation takes just a few steps.

Step 1: Enable Batch Preparation

  1. Navigate to Settings > Order Preparation
  2. Scroll to the Preparation by batch section
  3. Set Enable to Yes

Once enabled, MyFulfillment allows you to control how batches are created.

Step 2: Configure Batch Size Rules

From the same settings page, define:

  • Minimum number of orders per batch
  • Maximum number of orders per batch

These limits apply to all batch types:

  • Unique batches
  • Single-product batches
  • Multiple-product batches

This ensures batch sizes match your warehouse capacity and picking strategy.

New Batch Tabs in Order Preparation

After enabling batch preparation, the Order Preparation page updates automatically.

The standard In Progress tab is replaced by three batch-specific tabs:

  • New Batches – Batches created but not yet printed
  • Active Batches – Printed batches that are currently being processed
  • All Batches – A complete view of all batches and their statuses

This gives teams full visibility into batch progress at every stage.

Creating Batches in MyFulfillment

MyFulfillment offers two easy ways to create batches.

Option 1: Create a Batch Using Mass Actions

  1. Open the In Stock tab
  2. Select the orders you want to group
  3. Choose Generate batch from the mass actions menu

The newly created batch will appear in the New Batches tab, ready to be printed and processed.

Option 2: Create a Batch Using the Batch Helper

For faster and smarter batch creation, use the Batch Helper button at the bottom of the page.

This opens a popup displaying all possible batch combinations.

How the Batch Helper Works

  • Each row represents a carrier
  • Each column represents a batch type:
    • Unique – Orders with one product, all containing the same SKU
    • Single – Orders with one product
    • Multiple – Orders with several products
  • Each blue number shows how many orders match that carrier and batch type
  • Clicking a blue number instantly creates a batch containing all matching orders.

Printing and Managing Batches

Once a batch is created, MyFulfillment provides all the tools needed to manage it efficiently.

  • If orders are not shipped, they return to the In Stock tab

Delete a batch

Processing Orders in a Batch

To process a batch:

  1. Click Packing
  2. Scan the batch barcode from the first page of the printed batch document

Once selected:

  • Scan each order barcode to process it
    or
  • Select the order manually from the dropdown
