How a Pharmacy Runs Its Own Courier Delivery Rounds
Delivery rounds
Planned on paper → Created in myFulfillment with a PDF sheet
Payments
Cash counted by hand for each courier → Entered per round and reconciled
Orders left behind
Prepared parcels with no shared view → List of prepared orders without a round
This pharmacy operates an online parapharmacy and handles part of its local delivery operation with an in-house courier team. Two slots shape the day: a morning round and an afternoon round. Some orders are paid on delivery by cash, card, or mobile payment. Orders outside the local zone leave through a standard carrier. Medicine and parapharmacy orders share these local rounds.
The Challenge
Rounds were assembled on paper or in a spreadsheet. The team could not immediately see which courier carried an order or which prepared parcels still needed a round. At the end of the day, cash was counted courier by courier. Other payment methods, refusals, and cancellations were tracked separately. An order removed from a round could therefore drop out of the operational flow.
Top challenges:
- Know which courier carries each order and in what sequence
- Spot prepared parcels that have not been assigned to a round
- Reconcile cash and electronic payments at the end of the day
The Solution
The standard fulfillment flow remains in myFulfillment: picking waves, packing checks, and carrier labels for destinations outside the local zone. For local delivery, the custom module takes over as soon as an order is prepared. The team adds orders to a round, sets their sequence, and gives the courier a PDF route sheet. Each medicine order stays in an opaque, sealed parcel bearing one patient's name through to direct handover.
What We Configured
A round contains a date, a morning or afternoon slot, a courier, and comments. It combines medicine parcels, each intended for one patient, with parapharmacy orders on the same round. It shows the delivered and total order counts, together with the round’s current status: in progress, complete, or closed. The prepared-orders-without-a-round view flags parcels that still need an assignment. A removed or canceled order returns to prepared status. Orders outside the local zone keep the standard carrier workflow.
What We Custom-Built
Boostmyshop developed the round register, order sequence, and PDF route sheet. Payments are entered per round and by method: cash, card, or mobile payment. A dedicated view reconciles the amounts and provides an export. The invoice and customer grids were adapted to the flow. When a product is added to a supplier order, the screen also shows forecast stock.
The list of prepared orders that do not belong to any round acts as a safety net. If a delivery is refused or canceled, the order leaves the round and returns to prepared status instead of disappearing into a separate tracker.
Key benefits:
- Dated and sequenced rounds with a PDF sheet for the courier
- Dedicated view for prepared orders still waiting for a round
- Payments entered by round, reconciled in one view, and exported
The Results
Delivery rounds
Planned on paper → Created in myFulfillment with a PDF sheet
Payments
Cash counted by hand for each courier → Entered per round and reconciled
Orders left behind
Prepared parcels with no shared view → List of prepared orders without a round
Before departure, the team sees who carries every order and in what sequence. The courier hands each medicine parcel directly to the patient whose name it bears. The list of prepared parcels without a round shows what still needs planning. During the round, delivery counts and status remain visible. On return, payments are entered against the round and reconciled in one view. A refusal or cancellation returns the order to prepared status, ready for reassignment or follow-up.

When the last mile stays in-house
This module suits e-commerce teams that prepare orders in myFulfillment but deliver part of the local volume with their own couriers.
