Overview

How Royal Mail fits with myFulfillment

What is Royal Mail?

Royal Mail carries letters and parcels within the UK and internationally. Its business-account offering includes Royal Mail Tracked 24 and 48, and Local Collect. myFulfillment does not replace the carrier: it handles order management, preparation, checks, and the return case around the label. This page covers Royal Mail only: the connector exposes the Royal Mail services enabled on the merchant account. Parcelforce Worldwide, which has its own PFW API, is not among them.

Royal Mail for orders from any sales channel

Royal Mail enters the process after the order is already in myFulfillment. Whatever connected channel created it, the team keeps the same preparation path: check the parcel, choose an allowed method, create the PDF and record tracking.

In practice

How our customers use Royal Mail day to day

Day to day, the team prepares the order in myFulfillment, keeps the Royal Mail service allowed by the rule, prints the PDF returned by the connector and finds the tracking number on the same shipment.

01
Tracked 24 or 48 for each parcel

Methods enabled on the Royal Mail account are filtered for the destination and parcel. The operator keeps the suggested service or chooses another allowed method before creating the label.

02
One station for domestic and international

A UK shipment and an international shipment leave from the same screen. The available service depends on the Royal Mail contract and the parcel data.

03
Local Collect when the service allows it

The Local Collect option can accompany a compatible service. It is chosen on the shipment, not through a pickup-point lookup or a checkout selector.

04
Return handling stays in myFulfillment

Even when return carriage is arranged with Royal Mail, the request, receipt, inspection and refund or exchange decision remain tracked in myFulfillment.

A comparable operation

An order ready to ship, then its address and parcel re-keyed in a Royal Mail portal before dispatch.

Preparation stays in myFulfillment; the Royal Mail PDF and its tracking number return to the shipment.

Getting started

Connect Royal Mail to myFulfillment, step by step

  1. 1Have your Royal Mail account manager open your ProShipping account: that is the platform the connector authenticates against.
  2. 2Register your application on the Royal Mail API Developer Portal to obtain API access, generate the key pair, and then enter the Client ID and Client Secret in the Boostmyshop module with the onboarding team.
  3. 3Enable the Royal Mail methods in your contract and define the rules that offer them by parcel and destination.
  4. 4Test one shipment: the PDF must return to the order with a tracking number before routine processing begins.
Before you connect

This connector covers the Royal Mail method catalog: domestic classes, Signed For, HM Forces, and international services, filtered to those allowed on the merchant account. No Parcelforce Worldwide service is included. Shipping rules use costs configured in myFulfillment; no live Royal Mail rate is involved. Returns are tracked in myFulfillment while return carriage is arranged with Royal Mail.

Enable the methods covered by the Royal Mail contract first, then validate one order end to end before opening the daily flow.

FAQ

Royal Mail: frequently asked questions

Pricing, contract, carriers, Shopify, pickup points, worldwide selling and shipping: answers on the Royal Mail integration.

First have your Royal Mail account manager open a ProShipping account: that is the platform the connector authenticates against. Then register your application on the Royal Mail API Developer Portal to obtain API access and generate the key pair. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret in the Boostmyshop module with the onboarding team. A test then checks that the PDF and tracking number are returned.

The module offers methods allowed and enabled on your account. The connector includes Tracked 24, Tracked 48 and several international services, but that list is illustrative: your Royal Mail contract determines what is actually available.

The connector retrieves a PDF label, attaches it to the shipment, and confirms the label's creation by associating one tracking number with each parcel. The PDF is the only format returned.

The tracking number is returned with the label and is recorded on the myFulfillment shipment. Its handoff to the sales channel then depends on that channel's connector. Tracking events themselves stay on the Royal Mail side: the connector does not pull them in.

Local Collect is available as a connector shipping option for a compatible service. Eligibility depends on the account and method. No checkout pickup-point selector or address lookup inside myFulfillment is claimed here.

Yes, when the corresponding international services are enabled on your Royal Mail account. The connector lists International Standard, Tracked, Signed and Economy methods; the selected service depends on the contract, destination and parcel.

No. The Royal Mail connector's method catalog contains no Parcelforce service. Royal Mail publishes a separate PFW API for Parcelforce Worldwide, and the product treats Parcelforce as a separate carrier with its own code. No Parcelforce capability is attributed to this integration.

The return case stays in myFulfillment: request, receipt, inspection, then refund or exchange. Return carriage is selected and arranged under the Royal Mail account; the connector does not generate a Royal Mail return label automatically.

No. The connector filters allowed methods; then myFulfillment applies the configured cost and an estimate to each one for the shipping rule. No live Royal Mail quote is involved.
