How We Built an Omnichannel B2B2C System Connecting Retail Stores to E-Commerce Inventory
Retail store access
None → Real-time stock + ordering
Order routing
Single warehouse → Multi-warehouse splitting
A French e-commerce company founded in 2010, acquired in 2023 by a major retail group that owns multiple physical retail stores and a 3PL subsidiary. Before the acquisition, the company ran entirely on myFulfillment for stock management, order preparation, and purchasing. The acquisition changed everything.
The Challenge
The retail group decided to consolidate logistics through their 3PL subsidiary, which runs Mecalux Easy WMS. This meant migrating warehouse operations away from myFulfillment's built-in WMS. But Easy WMS has a critical limitation: it cannot handle multi-warehouse order splitting. The e-commerce company's operations span multiple warehouses, and orders frequently need to be split across them. Additionally, the group wanted their physical retail stores to be able to source products from the e-commerce company's inventory -- essentially turning the e-commerce operation into a central purchasing hub for the entire group.
Top challenges:
- Integrating with an external WMS after corporate acquisition
- External WMS unable to handle multi-warehouse order splitting
- Retail stores disconnected from e-commerce inventory
The Solution
We redesigned the architecture to position myFulfillment as the OMS and purchasing brain while delegating warehouse execution to Easy WMS.
What We Configured
myFulfillment was reconfigured as OMS + ERP for purchasing, maintaining full control over order routing, multi-warehouse splitting, and supplier management. The WMS integration allows myFulfillment to send picking instructions to Easy WMS and receive fulfillment confirmations back. Multi-warehouse order splitting logic ensures orders are distributed across warehouses that Easy WMS manages independently.
What We Custom-Built
A custom B2B portal was built for retail store managers, giving them a dedicated interface to browse the e-commerce product catalog with real-time stock visibility and place orders at negotiated B2B pricing. In-store kiosks were also developed, allowing end customers in physical stores to browse a portion of the e-commerce catalog and check stock availability. Orders placed through the portal or kiosks are automatically integrated into the myFulfillment OMS and routed to the appropriate warehouse for fulfillment. The checkout is simplified with no payment processing -- orders are fulfilled as internal B2B transfers.
In-store kiosks and a B2B portal connecting brick-and-mortar retail stores to the e-commerce central purchasing system, enabling store managers and end customers to browse products and place orders fulfilled from e-commerce warehouses.
Key benefits:
- Seamless OMS-to-WMS integration preserving order intelligence
- Multi-warehouse order splitting the external WMS couldn't provide
- B2B portal + in-store kiosks connecting retail to e-commerce stock
The Results
Retail store access
None → Real-time stock + ordering
Order routing
Single warehouse → Multi-warehouse splitting
The project successfully bridged the gap between e-commerce and physical retail. Store managers can now source products from the e-commerce central inventory in real time. End customers in physical stores can access products they wouldn't normally find on shelves. The multi-warehouse splitting capability -- which the external WMS lacked -- was preserved through myFulfillment's order management layer. The system currently handles store-to-store deliveries, with direct-to-consumer delivery from retail store orders planned as a future phase.
Understand this case in video
Not just for post-acquisition integration
The same OMS orchestration layer works whenever you need to connect multiple systems, channels, or business units under one operational brain.
- Franchise networks needing central purchasing with local store ordering
- Wholesale distributors adding a B2C e-commerce channel alongside existing B2B
- Companies outgrowing their ERP's logistics module but not ready to replace the ERP
- Any multi-warehouse operation where the WMS can't handle cross-warehouse order splitting
