GLS PrestaShop: which shipping setup fits your operation?

A GLS module can be enough for one PrestaShop store and one warehouse. A shipping platform suits teams centralizing labels across carriers. An OMS/WMS becomes useful when channels, warehouses, stock ownership, or routing rules multiply. In the current myFulfillment route, PrestaShop connects through Webservices and GLS through ShipIT; test both a home order and a pickup-point order before release.

The essentials

  1. A GLS module may cover one PrestaShop store and one warehouse; a shipping platform groups labels for several carriers.
  2. The myFulfillment setup uses PrestaShop Webservices for the store and a separate GLS ShipIT account for shipping.
  3. Do not assume the shopper’s ParcelShop ID survives checkout: inspect it before creating the pickup label.
  4. The 20-minute test checks two orders, both labels, the GLS tracking numbers, and the mapped status back in PrestaShop.

At the packing station, a PrestaShop order shows "pickup point", but the GLS label is about to use the customer’s home address. The operator can still print a valid label; it is simply the wrong service. A working GLS PrestaShop setup must preserve the delivery method and, for pickup, the ParcelShop ID, then return the tracking number and mapped shipping status to the store.

GLS PrestaShop: three setups, three different jobs

A GLS module can be enough for one PrestaShop store shipping from one warehouse. It keeps label work close to the order and avoids adding an operations layer when stock and preparation are already under control.

A shipping platform groups labels from several carriers. It fits a straightforward warehouse that needs one dispatch screen, but still manages orders, stock, and picking elsewhere.

An OMS/WMS is the broader choice: one order queue for several stores or marketplaces, warehouse allocation, controlled picking, and carrier rules shared across the operation.

The current myFulfillment route does not depend on old Web Labeling assumptions. PrestaShop connects through Webservices using the store URL and a scoped API key. GLS connects separately through ShipIT using four account inputs: server, a ShipIT login ending in ST, password, and contact ID. The applicable Home, FlexDelivery, Shop Delivery, and express methods are then selected according to the GLS account’s rules.

The label can print while the chain is still wrong

The first break is method mapping. A PrestaShop delivery method must resolve to the intended GLS service. If a renamed method falls through to the wrong rule, a home label may replace Shop Delivery without a printer error.

The second is the ParcelShop identifier. GLS France listed 10,000 Relais GLS in its 2026 network facts. Fevad says out-of-home delivery accounted for nearly one delivery in two in 2025 (2026 key figures). Yet support for that field at the GLS end does not prove that every PrestaShop checkout module passes the selected ID. Treat its presence on the order and label as a release condition.

The third break is the return path. GLS creates the parcel number, but PrestaShop still needs the mapped shipping status and that same tracking number. In the 2026 Arcep/CREDOC study, 62% of recipients reported at least one delivery problem in six months, with missing tracking information among the issues. Arcep counted 1.7 billion parcels in 2024, up 3.7% in one year (observatory published in 2025).

With an OMS/WMS, inspect four handoffs: the paid PrestaShop order, picking and packing, GLS label creation, then the tracking return to PrestaShop.

The evidence for the threshold comes from two separate operations, not one combined pair claim. A five-channel retailer using PrestaShop saved four hours a day and moved from shipping one to two days late to same-day shipping. In another operation using GLS among its carriers, tracking moved from after collection to pack completion.

Run a home and pickup test in 20 minutes

Create two paid PrestaShop orders: one for home delivery and one for a GLS pickup point. During the first five minutes, check the order reference, address, items, mapped delivery method, and the exact ParcelShop ID. A town or shop name is not a substitute for the identifier.

Use the next five minutes at the shipping step. Confirm that the GLS service matches what the shopper selected. Create both labels and compare the pickup-point details with the order. Record the two GLS tracking numbers.

Spend the final ten minutes back in PrestaShop. Both orders should carry the intended mapped shipping status and the same tracking numbers returned by GLS.

Read failures in order. The wrong service means the delivery-method mapping needs work. A missing ParcelShop ID means the checkout-to-shipping handoff is incomplete. Correct labels without PrestaShop tracking point to the shipping-confirmation feed or its status mapping. Fix the first failure, then rerun both orders.

Add myFulfillment when shipping can no longer be managed store by store

A module remains the sensible choice when one team runs one PrestaShop store from one warehouse. A shipping platform is the middle ground when labels are the main shared task.

myFulfillment becomes relevant when several stores or marketplaces feed one queue, stock is split across warehouses, or weight, destination, service, and item rules must be applied consistently. Its OMS coordinates orders and tracking; its WMS controls picking, packing, and inventory.

Use the PrestaShop integration for Webservices, mappings, multistore, and synchronization details. Use the GLS integration for ShipIT account inputs, methods, labels, and tracking. For the same decision pattern on another live pair, see Shopify × DPD.

Frequently asked questions

Use a module for one store and warehouse. Choose an OMS/WMS when several channels, warehouses, or carrier rules need one order queue and consistent tracking.

For GLS France ShipIT, prepare the server or territory, ShipIT login ending in ST, ShipIT password, and contact ID. You also need a GLS customer contract.

Do not assume it. Test that the exact ParcelShop ID survives checkout, order import, and label creation with the module and fields used by your store.

The myFulfillment shipping-confirmation feed can write the carrier tracking number and mapped status to PrestaShop. Verify both values on two test orders before release.

Are your operations holding back marketplace sales?

Stock availability, picking accuracy, and shipping times affect marketplace sales. Jonathan Coloma, COO of Repiauto, explains how his team went from 300 to 1,000 orders a day in two years. Will your warehouse hold up this peak season?

To hold up under peak volume, split the order queue into waves based on real operating constraints, then decide where barcode checks belong. At the packing bench, the operator verifies the parcel. Carrier rules select the service and print the label, so the next order can start without another decision.
